Mamas Occupy: Why You Need to Help

Since we started collecting donations, organizing volunteers, and ultimately becoming the hub for Queens, Upstate NY, and Connecticut, we have been working our asses off to make sure everything we’re doing is benefiting those who really need it. But we haven’t done it alone- the response we’ve gotten from calls for donations and volunteers has been heart-warming. And there’s a way you can help that takes really no effort at all. Here’s how…

As we meet those who have lost everything, see their faces, and hear their stories, one worse than the next, the one recurring theme is the lack of consistent, accurate information. We met a couple today who came to us because they knew it was the one guaranteed place they could get the supplies they needed to keep their kids warm and get essential items to keep going. And all because they’re friends with us on Facebook.

We’re doing our best to get you information as we receive it, after verifying it for accuracy, to make sure everyone is on the same page. You need to SHARE THIS INFORMATION with EVERYONE. You may not realize it, but you could be helping a family just by pointing them in the right direction.

This is not going to be a quick fix. It does not take a day, week, even month, to rebuild lives. We are in this for the long haul- and hope we can count on you to continue helping us help our neighbors recover and rebuild.

Thank you for supporting us. We cannot do it without you.

Is there somewhere I can still donate warm baby clothes and diapers?
