Local Fundraisers for Sandy Relief

Everyone is doing what they can to help locals rebuild after Sandy, and many in our area are organizing fundraisers to do their part. We’ve compiled a list of events happening to help in the relief effort. We’ll keep updating this list as we hear of more events being scheduled.

Hurricane Sandy Fundraiser at Queens Kickshaw

Some Queens and NY-based vendors have graciously donated kegs of their product for this event. 100% of the proceeds of Beyond Kombucha’s Mava Roka will go directly to Red Hook Recovers (https://redhook.recovers.org/), while 100% of the proceeds of Kelso Beer, Rockaway Brewing, and Paumanok Festival Chardonnay on draught will go directly to Occupy Sandy (http://interoccupy.net/occupysandy). Profits from the sales of everything else will go directly to the American Red Cross.

When: Today, November 8th, all day until 1am

Dine Out Williamsburg for Sandy Relief

All participating restaurants, bars, and businesses have pledged between 10-20% of gross sales to the Red Cross’ Sandy relief efforts. All diners have to do is dine, drink, and spend money at one (or many!) participating businesses.

DJs will be spinning from 8pm, raffle prizes include dinner and a room at The Standard Highline NYC, NY Nets gear, Broadway theater tickets and a one-year membership to SPiN New York plus more TBA! Professional Ping-Pong tournament on Center Court hosted by MC Ryan Willard. Anyone donating $20 or more at the door gains access to the private room with complimentary cocktails until 10pm! Proceeds to benefit those affected in Breezy Point.

Hip Tot Music Fest Family Fundraiser for Red Hook Initiative Sandy Recovery with the Itty Biddies

Hip Tot is famous for complimentary snacks, free goody bags worth the price of admission, local vendors, surprise pre-concert events and giveaways. Come early and enjoy the pre-concert fest featuring performances from The Cool Beans and Jeté Dance Center; a book reading by author and illustrator Melanie Hope Greenberg; Glitter Tattoos with Glitter Tattoo New York, Face Painting with Lady Z; Cardboard castle built by Mini Jake and Makedo, arts and crafts, treats, giveaways and more! A portion of the proceeds with benefit the Red Hook Initiative.

If you can’t make it you can purchase tickets for some families who can’t afford tickets. After you buy your tickets please inbox them your name and we will find families to donate your tickets to.

$7 Cover + 10% bar sales donated to ADOPT NY, a tool for New York animal rescue groups and adopters to connect with one another. Sandy left massive destruction behind, and in addition to the people being displaced, their pets have been too. For more info, click here.

Sticky Fingers & Snapshots Fundraiser

Featuring a bake sale, baby and toddler photo sessions where you can purchase digital prints on site, a coat drive, and full bar. All proceeds from the bake sale and photos will go to New York Cares Hurricane Relief, plus half of all drink sales.

When: Sunday, November 18, 11am – 1pm

Where: Laughing Devil Comedy Club, 47-38 Vernon Blvd., LIC


 

This will be a day of shopping, where participating vendors will donate a percentage of their proceeds to benefit Sandy relief. There will also be donation boxes set up for those who wish to donate household items, paper supplies, and baby items.

When: Sunday, November 25th, 11am – 6pm

Where: Divine Mercy Catholic Academy 101-60 92nd Street, Ozone Park

 

For the month of November, Emerald Brand Products will be donating $10 for every $20 spent to disaster relief.
