Free Spooktacular
Your child can make crafts, visit a haunted house, and pick pumpkins among other Halloween-y things!
When: October 28 from 5:00 PM to 8:30 PM.

Free Haunted Lantern Tours
Join the Urban Park Rangers as they mix history and Halloween for this special, spooky tour of the historic Water Battery! More info here.

Free Canine Costume Carnival
Furry friends can participant in a costume contest, with prizes for most creative costumes in large and small dog categories. Treat bags for the first 50 people, music, games and adorable animals for adoption from North Shore Animal League.

Free Halloween Bash
The Halloween Bash promises to be a great time with inflatable rides, crafts, and music.
When: October 29, 2011 from 2:00pm – 6:00pm

Highland Park Fall Harvest Festival and Pirate Day
Enjoy a day of family fun with a horse and carriage ride, crafts, games, a pumpkin patch, treasure hunt a pirate show and pirate music. There will also be a surprise visit from Captain Jack! Come dressed as your favorite pirate or in your favorite costume.
When: Saturday, October 29, 2011 – 12:00 p.m.–3:00 p.m.

Free Halloween Fun for the Family
Head to Central Library for some pre-Halloween fun. Pumpkin carving and decorating and more for adults. Storytime, hands-on activities, and more for children.

Bell Blvd’s Halloween Window Decoration Contest
The Bayside Bid is sponsoring a contest with a challenge to all the storefront merchants along Bell Blvd to see who can offer the most creative and favorite Halloween window display. The contest will give local residents, shoppers and spectators the opportunity to vote for their favorite Halloween Window Display. Go check out the contestants.

Halloween Remixed at Flushing Town Hall
Celebrate Day of the Dead, Halloween, and All Saints Day with hands-on festive fun for the whole family! Be sure to wear your costume and join us for an afternoon of spooky songs, dances and crafts. Create Mexican sugar skulls or Peruvian clay animals and place them in our Day of the Dead altar or take them home with you!

Fright Flight-Halloween Zip line Program
Experience weightlessness as if you were a ghost. What better way to get into the holiday spirit than to challenge yourself and fly through the air. Ages 8 and older. Halloween costumes are welcome but no open toe footwear is allowed. More info here

Celebrate Day of the Dead for Free
Visit the library for a workshop on how to create alters. Alters are prepared as part of the unique way in which Mexicans celebrate the Day of the Dead in order to honor deceased loved ones. In this workshop, kids will create whimsical box alters using paper skeletons and other colorful decorations.
When: October 31st at 6:00pm

Jackson Heights Halloween Parade
This annual parade is a favorite among local parents as kids get to walk in the parade wearing their costumes.
