Review: Berenstain Bears Live!

Submitted by Jesseca on July 5, 2011 – 8:00 amNo Comment

Fans of the classic children’s series The Berenstain Bears will be thrilled to know that Bear Country has come to NYC! The Berenstain Bears LIVE! in Family Matters, the Musical brings everyone’s favorite bear family to life at the Marjorie S. Dean Little Theatre, located at 5 West 63rd Street in Manhattan.

Stan and Jan Berenstain originally published The Berenstain Bears in 1974 and have gone on to publish over 300 books, create three animated television series, an upcoming feature-length movie, and now a brand new musical. Approved by the authors themselves, The Berenstain Bears LIVE! in Family Matters, the Musical is an adaptation of three of The Berenstain Bears’ most beloved books: The Berenstain Bears Learn About Strangers, The Berenstain Bears and Too Much Junk Food, and The Berenstain Bears’ Trouble at School. The show is filled with cute original music (our favorite was the fluff in the tummy split your pants song) and the actors have a great energy that kept our two five year olds engaged throughout. Kids are invited for photos with the cast after the show and were able to get bear noses painted on their face.

The Berenstain Bears LIVE! in Family Matters, the Musical will run at the Marjorie S. Dean Little Theatre located at 5 West 63rd Street. The show is 55 minutes long with no intermission. There is plenty of stroller parking at the theater. Ticket prices start at $29.95 and can be purchased here.
