Spring and Summer CSA’s in Queens

If you’re asking yourself “what’s a CSA” you’re not alone. CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. Basically, you buy a share of a local farm’s produce, which then entitles you to a share of the farm’s weekly crop. CSA’s are a win/win for everyone. Your membership fees help to support local farms and you get farm fresh produce for your family. It’s almost like having your own farm right here in Queens.

There are a number of CSA’s in Queens for you to join. Some will even give you the option of adding meat, fruit, eggs, and flowers to your share. For the most part, CSA’s will also require you to put in about four hours of volunteer work throughout the season, which lasts about four months. By requiring shareholders to volunteer, they are able to keep the membership prices relatively low. Plus, you can connect directly with the farm you’re getting your produce from.
