Boo at the Zoo

The Queens Zoo in Flushing Meadow Park is having their annual Boo at the Zoo on Saturday, October 30 and on Halloween. In addition to face painting and crafts, children can go trick or treating at the treat stations set up around the zoo, and also see the pumas and the bears get special pumpkins. The first 200 visitors each day will pick and decorate their own Halloween pumpkin, and as an added bonus, children under age 12 and in costume get in free.

Also on the big day, the annual Jackson Heights Halloween Parade will be held on 37th Avenue in Jackson Heights. A much tamer version than the one in the Village, this parade is completely dedicated to kids and their costumes. FREE Halloween Event at Louis Armstrong House Museum

1:00 pm – 4:00 pm

This Halloween, kids are invited to don their costumes and head over to the Louis Armstrong House Museum for a fun afternoon. Visitors can count on free Halloween treats and the opportunity to make spooky collages (with help from costumed guides). Best costume prizes will be given out every hour. Additionally, kids in their best Louis Armstrong costume can win a one-year family membership to the museum and a copy of Mary Pope Osborne’s Magic Tree House book, A Good Night for Ghosts – a story of young Louis Armstrong and the world of jazz.
