Halloween Day in Queens
There are lots of things going on to celebrate the season but what is really going on ON Halloween Day/Night? I always leave Halloween plans to the very last minute since it usually falls on a week day and there is not enough time to plan it properly. This year I may have out done myself by over planning a Friday night party for my tween and family trick or treating as well. And of course whats another weekend without mom dragging the family to a Queens event. Check out our picks for Halloween Day below:
A Queens Halloween Parade
The Jackson Heights Halloween Parade is the second-largest Halloween parade in New York. It's all about the neighborhood kids and their costumes.

Pumpkin Chucking in Queens
For catapult month at the NY Hall of Science, there will be a catapult launching pumpkins hundreds of feet in the air.
Halloween Day at 1pm
Boo at the Queens Zoo
Bring the kids to the Queens Zoo's Boo at the Zoo, where they can enjoy face-painting, trick or treating, pumpkin-decorating, and a haunted habitat.

Halloween Remixed at Flushing Town Hall
Before you trick or treat, stop by Flushing Town Hall in costume to celebrate the community traditions of Day of the Dead, Halloween, and All Saints Day with hands-on crafts and activities. Treats and giveaways included. Festive fun for the whole family!

A Musical Halloween at Louis Armstrong House
This Halloween, kids are invited to don their costumes and head over to the Louis Armstrong House Museum for a fun evening. Visitors can count on treats and such activities as face painting, spooky collage making, and guided house tours by costumed tour guides. Children who show up in their best Louis Armstrong costume will win a copy of Mary Pope Osborne's Magic Tree House book, A Good Night for Ghosts – a story of young Louis Armstrong and the world of jazz.

Local branches of the Queens Library celebrate with the holiday with a few Halloween parties. See the Queens Library website for all details.
Best Neighborhood to Trick or Treat – Kew Gardens
The intersection of Austin Street and Lefferts Blvd is Queens’ best place to take kids of all ages trick or treating. There are small stores up and down Lefferts who give out candy as well as people walking the streets with bags of treats. The nearby apartment buildings all open their doors to trick or treaters as well. Another great spooky addition to Kew Gardens is the big creepy cemetery at the top of Lefferts Blvd and Kew Gardens Rd.
