Summer Stock for City Kids
High-quality Queens youth performing arts program, less than $200 per week. Located in leafy, easy-to-get-to Sunnyside, Summer Stock for City Kids (ages 5-16) is accessible via the # 7 Local train (46th Street/Bliss stop), the Q60 bus or by car. Kids, tweens and teens sharpen their reading and writing skills with scene-acting and playwriting and experience a variety of cultures through Bollywood moves, Ballroom dance steps and both French and Spanish pop-singing. Even the youngest players explore Shakespeare, improv and drama games, and all ages relax with yoga. The kids put on an informal Talent Show the first Friday of each two-week session and there’s a performance for family and friends on the final day. After-School-Musical!
Unity Stage Company’s Children’s Theater production for 2011/2012 is “How to Eat Like a Child.” This hilarious show, based on Delia 
Ephron’s book of the same name, offers exciting performance opportunities for boys and girls to shine as comedic and dramatic actors as well as terrific roles for our musical-theater stars. Cantiamo Youth Chorus of Queens
The only non-sectarian, auditioned performance chorus for young people in the borough of Queens, Cantiamo Youth Chorus of Queens offers young people ages 8 – 16 the opportunity to immerse themselves in singing music primarily from the classical canon, with the addition of multi-cultural world music. The mission of Cantiamo (“We Sing” in Italian) is to develop an ensemble that will perform throughout the borough at major holiday events, and at top venues throughout New York City, and at festivals around the world.
