Sunnyside String School was established in 2008 in Sunnyside, New York. It has received great interest and reviews from parents in our local community. Most importantly, kids love it. The school focuses on teaching younger kids all string instruments such as violin, cello, piano and guitar as well as band instruments. Specializing in teaching kids as early as three, we are open for students at all ages.
Little Fiddlers’ Adventure” is especially designed for 3-5 year old kids to learn violin or cello in a fun group or private setting. It will run in once a week or twice a week half-hour sessions every week. It requires a deeper parent involvement since you will sit next to your child and learn simultaneously with them.
Ms.Choi’s teaching philosophy combines the best of the well-known Suzuki method with an adaptation of Shirley Givens’ popular book “Adventures in ViolinLand“. “Young children love the violin! It is small and huggable, and it makes sounds! They will learn to play the violin in a creative, joyful… environment”- Shirley Givens”
What Mamas are saying about Sunnyside String School:
At age four, our daughter started violin at the Sunnyside Arts Camp with Choi last summer. After the camp was over, she (not we) insisted on taking violin lessons. She has been taking group and then private lessons with Choi for almost a year now. She practices almost every day and is so proud of playing violin that she has played several times at her little sister’s playgroup on her own initiative. She is learning not only about the joy of music, but also about the value of working hard in order to improve at something. Thank you, Choi! — Sunnyside parents
